
9 West Broad St., Stamford
Stamford Hospital recently acquired an additional 23,900 square feet of office space at 9 West Broad St. in Stamford in order to relocate selected administrative operations. The organization will now occupy almost 42,000 square feet in the building.
Currently, the hospital’s Foundation, Information Technology, Organization and Clinical Effectiveness and Strategy and Market Development departments are located at 9 West Broad St. Its Finance Department will move to the newly acquired space. The property is located blocks from Stamford Hospital and has been called by officials an ideal location for the institution’s growing service platform.
The organization made its first commitment at 9 West Broad St. toward the end of last year. CB Richard Ellis’ Tom Pajolek, Ned Burns and Al Mirin represented the sublandlord in the transactions, while Fred Singer of D.H White Commercial Real Estate acted on behalf of Stamford Hospital.
The organization plans to move into its expansion space during the summer.
Killingworth Lot Sold
Kevin C. Geenty, president of The Geenty Group, Realtors, in Branford, recently brokered the sale of a 1.4-acre commercial lot at 155 Route 81 in Killingworth for $135,500. The property is one of the last commercial lots available in Killingworth. It is a level, dry, cleared lot with approvals for a 5,000-square-foot building.
Geenty represented the seller, Victor McGrady, in the transaction. Arthur J. Randolph, director at The Geenty Group, represented the buyer, Lighthouse Building & Construction, which plans to build a day care center on the site. The seller also was represented by attorney Katy Armenia of Madison.
Mariner Buys Grocery Center
A Wethersfield-based real estate broker recently sold Derry Meadows Shoppes, a supermarket-anchored center in the fast-growing southern New Hampshire area, to Mariner Derry Meadows LLC of Sydney, Australia.
Mariner paid the original developer, Yvon Cormier North Development Co., of Andover, Mass., $32 million for the 187,000-square-foot center on 49 acres of land. The center includes Hannaford Supermarket, Burger King, Dollar Tree, The Workout Club, Flagship Cinemas, Banknorth, E.B. Games, EZ Cash, The UPS Store and several other tenants.
Matt Halprin of New England Retail Properties in Wethersfield was the exclusive broker for the seller. New England Retail Properties is a full-service retail brokerage company, handled the marketing and leasing of the property since 1999.
Mariner Financial is a financial services group with offices in Sydney, Australia, and Boston. Its primary focus is servicing the growing retirement incomes market. Jeff Miller and Jim Patterson, who handled the Derry Meadows transaction for Mariner, manage the Boston office.
Glass Company Purchased
Hal Kurfehs of the Bethel office of Coldwell Banker Commercial-Scalzo Group recently brokered the sale of Ridgefield Glass, located at 4 Danbury Road in Ridgefield, for $750,000. The sale includes the business, a highly successful residential and institutional glass company with a strong retail and commercial customer base, and a long-term lease on the premises.
The business was sold by James Soyak, president of Ridgefield Glass, and purchased by Rob Sassone and John Petchonka.
