William Raveis Real Estate & Home Services has opened a new office in Wethersfield. The 1,800-square-foot office is located at 1206 Silas Deane Highway in front of the Puritan Furniture Distribution Center and next door to Hartford Hospital Medical Annex.

The office was slated to open on Oct. 10. Plans are now being finalized for a grand-opening celebration and open house, which will be announced at a later time.

The new regional office will be managed by Cynthia Walsh, a lifelong Wethersfield resident and Realtor with more than 14 years of industry experience. She will be joined by about a dozen experienced sales professionals working from that office, covering a number of nearby communities.

William Raveis’ Wethersfield office is the 41st real estate office the company maintains in Connecticut. The company also has seven offices in neighboring Massachusetts, with future plans to expand into Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. William Raveis Real Estate & Home Services is the largest family-owned real estate brokerage in New England, with an estimated sales volume of $4 billion in 2004.

Coldwell Sponsors ALS Concert

Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Connecticut and Westchester County, N.Y., will hold its second annual Concert for Project A.L.S., featuring the Southworth and Batteau Families and Friends, on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 8 p.m. at the Seabury Center located on 45 Church Lane in Westport.

All of the proceeds will be donated to benefit Project A.L.S. The Seabury Center donated its space to the event. The concert’s organizer, Fran Southworth, a noted vocalist, songwriter and actress, is a sales associate with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s Westport/Riverside office.

Tickets for the event are $50 per adult and $25 per child (18 and younger), and can be purchased at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s Westport locations, at 472 Riverside Ave. (203-227-8424) or 305 Post Road East (203-227-1269). ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, popularly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease) is a fatal neuromuscular disease characterized by muscle weakness and a progressive wasting and paralysis of the muscles. Since its inception in 1997, Project A.L.S. has been at the forefront of funding cutting-edge scientific research to help millions of people afflicted with chronic neurological diseases, including A.L.S., Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, multiple sclerosis and spinal cord injuries.

Last year, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage helped raise over $140,000 to support Project A.L.S. Marilyn Estess, a sales associate in Coldwell Banker’s Rye, N.Y., office, helped foster the partnership between Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage and Project A.L.S. She is the mother of Jenifer, Meredith and Valerie Estess, who founded Project A.L.S. after Jenifer was diagnosed with the disease at age 35 in 1997. All three sisters quit their jobs, established Project A.L.S., and successfully raised $23 million in less than seven years.
