CAR Supports Habitat
The Connecticut Association of Realtors is offering statewide support to Habitat for Humanity this year. CAR donated a total of $10,000, with $1,000 going to each of Habitat’s 10 affiliates throughout the state of Connecticut.
Dave Cournoyer of Partner Properties in Dayville presented one of the checks on behalf of CAR to Northeast Connecticut Habitat Chapter President Pat Steinbrick and several members on the site of the organization’s newest building project on Commerce Avenue in Danielson earlier this year.
“The Connecticut Association of Realtors and Habitat for Humanity are a perfect fit,” said CAR President Mark Foreman. “Realtors help people achieve the goal of homeownership every day and Habitat for Humanity helps families obtain the American dream of owning their own home.”
Habitat for Humanity welcomes all people to work toward realizing its goal of eliminating substandard housing throughout the world. Habitat volunteers build homes with people for whom homeownership would not be possible via conventional financing. Approved families work in partnership with Habitat staff and volunteers to build or rehabilitate their homes using materials donated or purchased with contributed funds. Each prospective homeowner family invests a minimum of 150 hours of “sweat equity.” Homes are sold at no profit via a zero-percent interest mortgage held by Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity.
