First County Bank recently announced that it will sponsor the annual Norwalk Seaport Association’s Oyster Festival, which will be held on Sept. 10 and 11.
This will be the 10th year that the bank has supported the festival, which will take place at Veteran’s Park in Norwalk. For this year’s sponsorship, First County will provide $20,000.
“As a community bank, we support local nonprofit organizations and help make a difference in the lives of people in our communities,” Rey Giallongo, chairman and CEO of First County Bank, said in a statement. “We proudly participate as the presenting sponsor of the 2016 Norwalk Oyster Festival and to help raise awareness of the area’s maritime heritage.”
The festival will feature family-friendly activities and entertainment, including performances from “The Voice” contestant Sawyer Fredericks, a Newtown native, as well as the Nerveless Nocks Thrill Show and the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show.
The event will also include carnival games and an Arts & Crafts Pavilion, which will feature over 100 booths with artisan and hand-crafted items for sale. Additionally, the food court will offer an oyster slurping contest and a craft beer tent, which will serve over 40 varieties of beer.
