Naugatuck-based Ion Bank has made a pair of donations totaling $15,000 to two community organizations in the area through its charitable foundation.

A $10,000 grant went to the Cheshire Food Pantry, to help fund the construction of a new 5,700-square-foot facility that will serve over 300 Cheshire individuals and families.

“It’s because of community-minded organizations like Ion Bank that we are able to expand our services and provide a safe, comfortable environment for those in need,” Patty Hartmann, executive director of the Cheshire Community Food Pantry, said in a statement.

An additional $5,000 grant went to the Neighborhood Housing Services of Waterbury, a nonprofit that works to revitalize neighborhoods and create homeownership opportunities throughout the city.

“Neighborhood Housing Services is invaluable to the Waterbury area as they collectively build healthy and strong communities by increasing resident engagement, develop resident leaders, strengthen resident-led associations and also sponsor community building activities,” Charles J. Boulier III, president and CEO of Ion Bank and Ion Bank Foundation, said in a statement.
