A Stamford woman was recently charged with one count of wire fraud stemming from an embezzlement scheme.

Candace Rispoli was employed by Lodestone Management Consultants, later known as Infosys Consulting, from approximately January 2012 until June 2016. Beginning in approximately 2013, she worked for the company from her former home in East Haven, which she shared with her then-boyfriend Michael Miano. As part of her position with Lodestone, Rispoli had an American Express credit card to use to pay for travel, entertainment and other business expenses incurred by the company’s employees and potential employees.

The indictment alleges that, from approximately 2013 until June 2014, Rispoli wrongfully charged her and her boyfriend’s personal expenses to the company card. She also transferred funds from the company’s American Express card to PayPal and Venmo accounts controlled by her and her boyfriend. To conceal her scheme, Rispoli altered the expense account statements and created false billing summaries, which she emailed to the company’s accounting firm.

It is alleged that Rispoli and Miano stole at least $800,000 as part of this scheme. If convicted, she faces up to 20 years in prison.

Miano waived his right to be indicted and pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud on Sep. 1, 2017. He is released on a $100,000 bond pending sentencing.
