Another biotech firm has relocated to Branford.

Farmington-based Azitra Inc. will be moving to a new, 12,030-square-foot location at 21 Business Park Drive in February. Richard Guralnick of Branford-based O,R&L was the sole broker in the transaction.

Azitra Inc. is a clinical-stage medical dermatology company that leverages extensive scientific knowledge of proteomics, genetic engineering and the skin microbiome to create and develop novel
products for the treatment of skin conditions and diseases. The company developed its technology in cooperation with Yale University and Maine’s The Jackson Laboratory.

Two biomedical firms took up residence in Branford in 2019: Tangen BioSciences, which took 16,000 square feet at 20 Commercial St. and Wren Laboratories, which took 5,589 square feet at 688 Main St. Both transactions were facilitated by The Geenty Group, Realtors. A life sciences building also sold on Business Park Drive last year, part of a $2.63 million multi-property transaction.

The general shortage of biotech space in the New Haven area, despite relatively low rents, has some at the state’s Department of Economic and Community Development suggesting it may help fund the creation of additional lab space in the area.
