Macy’s will open an outpost of its discount retail brand, Macy’s Backstage, at the WestFarms mall on Saturday.

The struggling retailer currently operates stores at WestFarms and at Brass Mill Center, Connecticut Post, Danbury Fair, Stamford Town Center and Pavilions at Buckland Hills malls.

Lord & Taylor recently announced it was closing its WestFarms location.

Macy’s Backstage Westfarms will have approximately 16,000 square feet of dedicated retail space on the first level inside the location’s existing Macy’s store, delivering a “constantly changing assortment of on-trend merchandise and encouraging customers to return to find new treasures,” the company said in a statement.

“Our customers are excited about the Macy’s Backstage shopping experience, and we are thrilled to offer a strong assortment of in-the-moment fashion and great prices for each Backstage location and the community it serves,” Michelle Israel, Macy’s senior vice president of off-price, said in a statement. “If you’re looking for an everyday fashion refresh, a home update, a last-minute gift or a special treat for yourself, we have you covered. Backstage stores focus on value and newness, guaranteeing that shoppers will find an amazingly-priced assortment of recognizable brands and trends each visit.”

The Farmington store joins 10 others opening around the country in California, New York, Maryland, New Jersey and Texas.
