TD Bank has named Monté Foster as its new retail market president for Southern New England, including Connecticut.

Foster will lead a retail banking team of approximately 1,000 employees at 95 locations in Connecticut, parts of Massachusetts and Upstate New York, TD Bank said in a statement. He will be responsible for designing and executing market strategy to improve the customer and employee experience across Southern New England and promoting bank-wide collaboration at the market, regional and store levels, the bank said.

Foster will also oversee small business sales strategy and the retail team’s engagement in the local community.

“Monté’s strong Retail experience and intimate knowledge of the local community make him a great fit for this position,” Steve Webb, TD Bank’s regional president for Southern New England, said in the statement. “Monté’s leadership and his ability to bring diverse teams together to enhance bank-wide performance will serve him well in this new role.”

Foster was previously a TD Bank retail “#BeLegendary” leader, where he was responsible for executing the bank’s trademarked #BeLegendary program in Southern New England. He focused on creating consistent customer-first routines and behaviors to help drive net portfolio growth, promote collaboration with partners across the bank and increase customer satisfaction, the bank said.

Foster is involved in the bank’s diversity and inclusion efforts and is one of the co-leads of Southern New England’s Better Banking for Black Boston program, which provides financial education to local minority-owned small businesses. The program connects the bank with minority customers, prospects and community organizations in Boston.

He will be based in Worcester, Massachusetts.
