President Joe Biden said Thursday the American people are “really, really down” after a tumultuous two years with the coronavirus pandemic, volatility in the economy and now surging gasoline prices that are slamming family budgets. But he stressed that a recession was “not inevitable” and held out hope of giving the country a greater sense of confidence.
The trucking industry, petroleum dealers and others are bracing for a possible double-digit increase in Connecticut’s diesel tax on July 1. The regularly scheduled adjustment comes as diesel prices are rising across the state.
Connecticut will temporarily suspend its 25-cent-per-gallon excise tax on gasoline after a bipartisan vote by state lawmakers Wednesday in an effort to ease pain at the pump for motorists.
