Awards Program Announced
Danbury-based R.J. Reby Foundation has announced its scholarship awards program for 2006. The foundation is a nonprofit, charitable grant-giving organization. Founded by Robert J. Reby, a local businessman and president of Robert J. Reby & Co., a leading financial planning firm, the foundation supports students in their pursuit of higher education.
The foundation awards scholarship funds to those who demonstrate personal and scholastic excellence. Each recipient receives a one-time award toward college expenses. In the past nine years, the foundation has given more than $50,000 in scholarships to area students.
Seniors enrolled at Danbury High School or Ridgefield High School who plan to attend an accredited two- or four-year college, university or technical school are eligible for the foundation’s scholarship award. One recipient from each school will be awarded $1,000. Interested students should obtain additional information at their respective guidance departments.
In addition, the foundation, in the spirit of also assisting employees of local companies, is offering the scholarship award through two Danbury-based corporations: Cendant Mobility and The Goodrich Corp. Similarly, the scholarship program is open to high school seniors going on to college, university or technical school, and who are children or dependents of Cendant or Goodrich employees. One recipient from each corporation will receive $500. Those applicants can contact their respective human resource departments for more details.
Other local corporations wishing to inquire about the program should contact Loreen Lewis at (203) 790-4949.
