Marylou Butler has recently joined the Westerly, R.I., office of Prudential Pequot Properties of Westerly, R.I., which is a partner of Prudential Connecticut Realty, as a sales executive.
A native of Narragansett, Butler graduated from South Kingstown High School and attended the University of Rhode Island. After spending 20 years raising a family and living in Warwick, she returned to South County, moving to South Kingstown in 1998.
Butler has worked extensively in fields that service real estate, including underwriting policies and inspecting property for insurance companies, photographing real estate and producing advertising for “Homes Magazine.” She is currently also working in the administrative offices of the Union Fire District of South Kingstown.
In addition to extensive volunteer involvement in the communities in which she has resided, Butler has been an advocate of workforce and affordable housing. She has been a guest speaker and presenter for the Affordable Housing Collaborative Commission of South Kingstown and continues to work in concert with the panel to help educate the policy makers and public, and fight for changes that will make it easier to produce needed housing. She also appears in an educational movie about the subject filmed by the Housing Network of Rhode Island.
Butler is a member of the National Association of Realtors, The Kent-Washington Board of Realtors, The Multiple Listing Service and the Rhode Island and New England Genealogy Societies.
CBRB Promotes Mishkin
Richard Mishkin has been named the head of the Wilton office of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Connecticut/Westchester, N.Y. Mishkin began his career with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage as a sales associate in the New Canaan office in 1989. He rose through the company’s ranks and was named manager of the Katonah, N.Y., office in 1994. He excelled at this position through 2002, when he was tapped to manage the company’s Somers, N.Y., office.
Mishkin currently serves as vice president of the Westchester/Putnam Multiple Listing Service and heads numerous committees for the Westchester County Board of Realtors. He is also a member of the Putnam County Association of Realtors, the Dutchess County Association of Realtors, and the Northern Fairfield County Association of Realtors.
“It’s extremely exciting to return to Connecticut, and Wilton in particular,” said Mishkin. “In a way, it’s like coming home to where I first began in real estate back in 1989. Living right over the border in Pound Ridge affords me to the ability to spend much time in Wilton and I can’t say enough about how much I love this area.
“In my 17 years with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage I’ve derived personal satisfaction from helping sales associates identify and capitalize on opportunities, problem solve, and develop strategies to achieve personal growth. I certainly look forward to practicing this with the highly dedicated Wilton team,” added Mishkin.
Mishkin received his Bachelor of Arts degree in liberal arts from Syracuse University and attended St. John’s University Law School in New York. He graduated from the Connecticut Real Estate Institute in 1989 and the New York Institute for Real Estate Studies in 1991. He lives in Pound Ridge with his wife Cathy. They are the proud parents of two grown children.
