The Hammocks, a new residential project in Clinton being marketed by William Raveis Real Estate & Home Services, recently won a 2006 Home Building Industry award as Connecticut’s Best-Marketed Small Community.
“We are extremely proud of our New Homes Division and its achievement of yet another HOBI award,” said William Raveis, the company’s chairman and chief executive officer. “The Hammocks is an exceptional community and we are thrilled to partner with the Richards family in marketing this remarkable opportunity to the public.”
Gary Weiner is the regional director of the William Raveis New Homes Division and spearheaded the company’s marketing of The Hammocks.
“The Hammocks is an extraordinary community and we couldn’t be more pleased that our unique, eye-catching and, most importantly, effective marketing efforts were recognized with a prestigious HOBI award,” he said.
The Hammocks is a 53-home active-adult community in Clinton, built by the Richards family. The family – third-generation owner of Clinton Nurseries – is using part of its property for the community. The Hammocks is intended to replicate a 19th century maritime village, featuring authentic period home designs, with each home custom designed for the lot on which it is built. The historically accurate exteriors blend with the modern interiors, all with open-floor plans, state-of-the-art kitchens and baths, and unique touches throughout. The key is in the details of the community, from each home’s stone-faced foundation to the paved driveways and brick sidewalks that meander through the village. The community is accented by two large town greens. Construction at The Hammocks began in the fall of 2005, and 16 homes currently are under construction. Ten already are sold and three are occupied.
The Hammocks’ marketing includes a custom Web site, TheHammocksOnTheSound.com, as well as a 12-page color brochure with information on the community, the town of Clinton and the myriad amenities of each home. The community’s marketing also includes an on-site sales center offering open houses every Saturday and Sunday.

Prudential Hires McKay
Realtor sales professional Margaret Knapp McKay recently joined the Fairfield office of Prudential Connecticut Realty.
“Margaret brings a wonderful sense of Fairfield with her,” said Fairfield Office Leader Melissa Riley. “She has a corporate background and gracefully blends this with her real estate knowledge. She will thrive in our environment which has technology, support and training. We are thrilled to have her as a part of our team.”
McKay, who previously was affiliated with another brokerage, said she joined Prudential because of the company’s international presence, training program and technological expertise.
“Prudential has an impressive reputation,” McKay noted. “And when it comes to making a decision about something as important as a home purchase, who better to list with than an enthusiastic Realtor who positively loves Fairfield? I’ve lived here for 25 years, so I understand how much Fairfield has to offer in terms of its small-town atmosphere and its outstanding schools.”
