CB Receives Award
A Hartford shelter for women and families has recognized the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Cares Foundation with its Reaching Out award.
My Sisters’ Place (MSP), which is committed to ending homelessness, made the announcement at its recent annual meeting. Since 1999, Coldwell Banker has contributed more than $200,000 to support the needs of the homeless women and children at MSP facilities.
The donations from CBRB Cares were used for general upkeep of the shelter with portions allocated for two MSP programs. The first, “For the Love of Children,” allows the staff at MSP to address the behavioral issues that are unique to those who have been victims of homelessness. The second, “Our Life Skills,” is a program that helps women and children in transition.
“We are truly grateful for the financial support we receive from Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage that helped us to lead women and children in our care on a path to self-sufficiency,” said Diane Paige-Blondet, executive director of MSP.
MSP started its first homeless shelter on Capen Street in Hartford in 1982. Today, it has three facilities providing numerous programs and services statewide. In a typical year, MSP will serve more than 750 women and children by providing housing, food and other basic needs. MSP’s program reaches beyond Hartford. In 2006, 27 percent of the people MSP served were from outside Hartford.
The Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Cares Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage of Connecticut and Westchester County, N.Y. The company’s corporate offices are located at 51-53 Kenosia Ave. in Danbury.
