Chestnut Hill, Mass.-based WS Development announced plans for a 500,000-square-foot open-air shopping, dining and entertainment complex that includes public open space, walkways, recreation amenities, a residential component and full service grocer at the I-84/I-691 Interchange along Route 10 in Cheshire.

"The decision to build a destination outlet center is in large part due to the very strong retail interest in the project and the success of outlet centers today," Mark Roberts, senior vice president of leasing at WS Development, said in a statement. "With its convenient highway location and super regional access, the project is perfectly positioned within the state for outlet retail."

Construction is anticipated to start in early 2014 with a projected opening of summer 2015.

According to WS Development, the project will create 400 jobs during construction and approximately 1,100 full and part-time permanent jobs upon completion.
