Simsbury Bank last month sponsored the first Ladies Tertulia at Millwright’s Restaurant and 1680 Tavern in Simsbury.

A Tertulia is a Spanish word for a social gathering of people who have similar interests to talk about current affairs.

The invitation–only event was designed to “bring educators, business women, government leaders, mothers and wives together to celebrate each other and honor the thread that holds us together as we watch over the town of Simsbury,” Charity Folk, marketing coordinator for Millwright’s, told event attendees.

More than 50 women attended the event, which encouraged the women to support and empower one another.
