Connecticut added 3,200 jobs in August, according to the state’s Labor Situation Report.
The unemployment rate is currently 5.3 percent – down a minor difference of 0.1 percent from the revised July 2015 unemployment rate.
Connecticut’s unemployment rate has not been this low since May 2008 (5.4 percent), the report said.
"We’ve undoubtedly seen a strong summer and a strong year – this is the best August we’ve seen in a decade," Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said in a statement. "There is no doubt the needle is moving in the right direction. Unemployment is hovering around the national average, with thousands of jobs being created each month. It’s good news and it demonstrates that our efforts over the past several years are truly paying dividends. Nonetheless, we must continue fighting for more good paying jobs with good benefits as we engage with companies like never before."
