A New Haven man pleaded guilty this week to an armed robbery he carried out in 2013 in Seymour.

Daniel Hamlett Sr. was arrested in Georgia last November and has been detained since his arrest. His sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 7,  and he’ll face a maximum term of imprisonment of 25 years.

According to authorities, Hamlett had driven a stolen car to the Webster Bank on New Haven Road in Seymour and robbed a bystander in the parking lot before entering the bank and forcibly taking $5,594 in cash.

After fleeing the scene, Hamlett met up with his son, Daniel Hamlett Jr., who picked up his father and helped him elude law enforcement, authorities said. Hamlett Jr. was arrested and pled guilty last year for aiding and abetting the robbery. He currently awaits sentencing as well.
