AVANGRID Inc. and its Connecticut subsidiaries, The United Illuminating Co., The Southern Connecticut Gas Co. and Connecticut Natural Gas Corp., have distributed charitable donations to 39 nonprofit organizations across the state for energy conservation projects.

The company’s distributed a total of $268,000 through the state’s Neighborhood Assistance Act (NAA). The NAA is designed to provide funding for municipal and tax exempt organizations by providing a corporate business tax credit for businesses that make cash contributions to these entities.

“AVANGRID is dedicated to investing in clean energy projects across the country. Part of that effort is supporting our community partners who are taking steps to become more energy efficient,” CEO James P. Torgerson said in a statement.
