Torrington Savings Bank recently donated $3,000 to a local homeless and housing resources center.

The Gathering Place, located at 21 Prospect St., offers a safe place for individuals to register for benefits, apply for housing assistance, apply for food stamps, work on a resume, get appropriate interview clothing, do laundry, take a shower, get emergency food and, if necessary, receive referrals for mental health, substance abuse and medical services.

The center is owned and operated by New Beginnings of Northwest Hills Litchfield County Inc.

“Torrington Savings Bank is proud to help New Beginnings as they operate The Gathering Place. They do wonderful work in the community by giving people the opportunity to access the many services available from the numerous social service agencies in the area,” John Janco, president and CEO of Torrington Savings Bank, said in a statement.
