A Rhode Island man has been charged with robbing a bank in Westbrook.

The federal grand jury in New Haven returned an indictment charging Robert Chadronet, of Rumford, Rhode Island, with one count of bank robbery.

The indictment alleged that Chadronet used force, violence and intimidation to rob $2,329 from the Westbrook branch of Citizens Bank at 1187 Boston Post Road on Aug. 27, 2015.

Chadronet pleaded not guilty to the charge in court yesterday. He was arrested on Sept. 10, 2015 on state charges related to a bank robbery that occurred in Milford on Aug. 18, 2015 and has been detained since. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine.

Chadronet is on federal supervised release from a prior bank robbery conviction.
