Alison Skratt, vice president of corporate communications at Webster Bank, has been honored as one of the winners of Webster’s 80 Days of Giving Volunteer Award.

Skratt’s service helped earn $1,000 toward the nonprofit of her choice – Wellmore Behavioral Health’s Women and Children’s Program in Waterbury. The program aims to fight the stigma of mental health and substance abuse issues, and provides on-site child care, 24-hour treatment services, culturally sensitive staff trained in issues of domestic violence and trauma.

“Families often remain silent on the issue, creating the illusion that these challenges are ‘for other people,’” Skratt said in a statement. “The truth of the matter is that just about everyone can name a family member who has struggled with at least one of these challenges, including me. So I decided to use 80 Days of Giving to add my voice to the conversation.”

“A member of my family has struggled with mental health issues most of their life,” Skratt said in a statement. “[My son and I] volunteered with Wellmore’s program because this family member faced significant challenges with their children, and I’d like to think that maybe things would have turned out differently if they had had access to similar services.”
