Construction has begun on the new Bob’s Discount Furniture headquarters addition in Manchester.

The furniture giant announced the expansion project in March, which will more than double its current operating space at 428 Tolland Turnpike, adding a new 103,000-square-foot facility adjacent to the existing 90,000-square-foot building.

The project has been funded in part through a $7 million low-interest loan from the state.

Bob’s was founded in Manchester in 1991, and now has 69 stores nationwide.
