Vacancies in the 37.6-million Greater Hartford retail market fell from 11.1 percent to 10.6 percent in the past year, according to an industry report.

Enfield has the highest vacancy rate in the region at 20.6 percent, while Glastonbury has the lowest at 4.2 percent, according to KeyPoint Partners, a Massachusetts brokerage.

New chains entering the region including At Home, Saks Off Fifth and Cost Plus World Market offset local closings by Sears, Toys R Us and Sam’s Club.

Home decor superstore At Home recently opened its first Hartford-area store at The Plaza at Burr Corners in Manchester. The 108,000-square-foot store filled vacant space previously occupied by K&G Superstore  and Pilgrim Furniture City, which relocated within the center to a former Waldbaum’s supermarket space.

This 163,700 square foot lifestyle project is now anchored by REI and Saks Off Fifth, and will add Cost Plus World Market and Buy Buy Baby later this year.
