Cigna Corp. on Thursday reported third-quarter profit of $772 million.
The Bloomfield-based company said it had profit of $3.14 per share. Adjusted for non-recurring costs, earnings came to $3.84 per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 11 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $3.45 per share.
The health insurer posted revenue of $11.46 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $11.45 billion, also topping forecasts. Eight analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $11.22 billion.
Cigna expects full-year earnings in the range of $14.20 to $14.40 per share.
Cigna shares have climbed 5 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor’s 500 index has increased slightly more than 1 percent. The stock has increased 8 percent in the last 12 months.
