A planned Trumbull assisted living facility has received the zoning approvals it needs to move forward, according to a statement from the developers.
The Trumbull Planning & Zoning Commission approved Silver Heights Development’s application for a zone change and text amendments last week. The proposed development will convert the existing building into a 200-unit independent, assisted and memory care community. The campus is located near retail and a major intersection. The property at 48 Monroe Turnpike is currently a 250,000-square-foot office building on 17.6 acres of land, formerly housing 1,200 United Healthcare workers.
The plan also includes a 160 unit “active adult community” on the same site but in separate location, utilizing a 3-story parking garage to provide covered parking for the residents. The developer’s announcement called it a “state of the art” complex with an emphasis on health and wellness and social activities. It will have a pool, cafe, bar and commercial kitchen. An activities director will be arranging events for the residents in this “like minded” community.
