Connecticut still has one of the highest property tax rates in the country, according to a new study.

WalletHub, the personal finance website, used U.S. Census Bureau data to rank every state and the District of Columbia by property tax rate.

Statewide, the effective property tax rate is 2.07 percent, the study reported. With assuming a median home value of $270,100, the study found the owner of that home would pay a $5,582 per year in property taxes.

Connecticut ranked 48th, behind Vermont and Wisconsin but ahead of New Hampshire, Illinois and New Jersey.

For vehicle property taxes, Connecticut ranked 47th, with an effective tax rate of 2.59 percent and annual taxes on 2018’s best-selling car – a Toyota Camry LE four-door sedan valued at $24,350 – coming in at $632.
