A downtown Stamford self-storage building has been sold to a New York owner who plans to convert the building to a self-storage center.

The 62,000-square-foot commercial building at 370 West Main St. was sold to Storage Deluxe. Louis Zuckerman and Patrick Colwell of CBRE represented the owner, Storage Works LLC, and procured the buyer.

“The demand for self-storage facilities has grown significantly in the Stamford area, due in part to the addition of so many new residential apartments,” Zuckerman said in a statement. “Storage Deluxe plans to reposition the property for self-storage use, bringing a welcome addition of new capital to the local area.”

The building was previously used for document storage and recently received approvals for conversion to self-storage, part of strong growth in the sector in Stamford.

Storage Deluxe was represented by Shipman & Goodwin LLP and Cohen & Perfetto LLP. The seller was represented by Steven J. Baron.
