Popular craft brewery Two Roads Brewing Co. is expanding with a second brewery next door to its flagship location and taproom in Stratford.
The expansion, called Area Two Experimental Brewing, sits adjacent to the main brewery, will be “a playground” for Master Brewer Phil Markowski and the brewing staff to be creative with barrel aging, wild yeast propagation and other experimental brewing techniques, the company said in a statement.
New beers will be introduced at this facility including Brett beers, sours and spirit-based barrel-aged beers, and its equipment will be used to make some existing, popular beers.
The brewery can house up to 1,500 wood barrels and will contain a tasting room with an outdoor deck, small private event facility and a coolship. Construction of the 25,000-square-foot, $12 million facility has wrapped up and an opening is expected on March 11, according to CT Bites.
