The high winds that swept New England Wednesday damaged a large multifamily building under construction near downtown New Haven.
Norwalk-based Spinnaker Properties’ Audubon development had two large sections of walls panels blown down, according to the New Haven Independent.
No one was hurt on the site, and a wrought iron fence caught debris that fell three stories to the ground, preventing it from landing on the sidewalk.
The Audubon is a 269-apartment, 7-story mixed-use apartment building wrapped around a 716-unit parking garage. The structure is being built on a former parking lot bordered by State, Grove, Orange, and Audubon streets.
So far, the garage at the heart of the project has been built along with the first two floors, made of concrete. Some of the stick-frame floors above that have been completed in some areas of the site. Construction is managed by Bozzuto.
