The Credit Union League of Connecticut elected its board directors and announced major awards at its 85th annual meeting and vendor expo last week. 

The trade association re-elected Karen Viets of Metropolitan District Employees Credit Union and Vincent Ciambriello of Sikorsky Credit Union, while John Holt of Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union was elected to the board.  

The board officers selected were Michael Hinchey of Crosspoint Federal Credit Union as chairman, Vincent Ciambriello of Sikorsky Credit Union as vice chairman, Gail Todd of Greenwich Municipal Employees Federal Credit Union as secretary and Andrew Klimkoski as treasurer. 

The CUCL also honored three individuals for their outstanding contributions to the credit union industry. 

Octavia Gaines, lending manager at Hartford Federal Credit Union, was named 2019 Connecticut Credit Union Outstanding Professional, recognizing exemplary performance and contributions made to her credit union and the overall system. 

Jane Desrosiers, board president of Northeastern Connecticut Healthcare Credit Union, was named 2019 Connecticut Credit Union Volunteer of the Year, recognizing extraordinary commitment to the credit union movement. 

Democratic Rep. Jim Himes was named the inaugural Legislator of the Year, recognizing his commitment to supporting credit unions and their member-constituents.
