Hartford rents have declined 0.4 percent over the past month and remain more affordable than many other U.S. cities, according to a new report.

The median rent for an apartment in the capital city is $830 for a one-bedroom unit and $1,030 for a two-bedroom, according to Apartment List.

It’s the third straight month that apartment rents have declined, Apartment List said. Compared with the same period in 2018, Hartford rents are down 0.4 percent. That trails the statewide average which increased 1.3 percent and national average which rose 1.6 percent.

Nine of the nation’s 10 most expensive apartments are in California, according to the study. Edgewater, New Jersey led the list with average one-bedroom rents of $3,668.
