As it seeks to consolidate its footprint and move some operations to cheaper locales, Shelton-based Hubbell Inc. plans to close up to 1 million square feet of factory and warehouse space.

The company has 75 such facilities throughout the country, the Connecticut Post reports, and has consolidation efforts already underway making up at least half of its consolidation targets.

The firm earlier this year announced it would close its 14,000-square-foot Newtown factory.
