A large distribution center proposed for South Windsor goes before town leaders for approval tonight.

The 421,000-square-foot facility proposed by Scannell Properties would sit on a 21-acre parcel at 360 Ellington Road at the intersection of Interstate 291 and U.S. Route 5, according to the meeting agenda for the town’s Planning and Zoning Commission.

CBRE’s Hartford office is marketing the property, with spaces between 52,000 square feet and 195,000 square feet available, according to a marketing brochure. Both buildings feature 32-foot clear heights and 50-foot-by-50-foot column spacing. Combined, the two buildings planned for the property will have 76 loading dock doors plus a railroad connection.

The Journal Inquirer first reported the proposal, and noted the railroad connection could take over 4,000 trucks off the roads each year.
