A Bridgeport woman will serve 18 months in prison for robbing two Chase Banks in Bridgeport in 2017.

Jennifer Kellner, 29, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Hartford on Tuesday. She was also sentenced to three years of supervised release following her prison term.

According to prosecutors, on Aug. 15, 2017, Kellner entered the Chase Bank at 723 Boston Ave. in Bridgeport, handed the teller a brown paper bag and a note demanding money. She told the teller not to do anything “stupid” because “there were a lot of people here and small children.” The teller placed $1,987 in the bag and handed it to Kellner, who then exited the bank.

Kellner also robbed approximately $1,000 from the Chase Bank located at 2125 Main St. in Bridgeport a few days later on Aug. 23, and threatened to shoot the teller if the teller pushed any buttons in an effort to alert law enforcement.

Kellner was arrested on related state charges on Aug. 27, 2017, and pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery on April 8, 2019. She was ordered to report to prison on Jan. 6, 2020.
