People’s United Bank has announced that 18 Connecticut branches will close between December and April 2020. Most are former United Bank branches. People’s United acquired United Bank on Nov. 1.
“The result will be a thoughtfully integrated branch network that has been optimized to eliminate overlap and deliver our combined customers continued convenient access to a People’s United branch,” Jack Barnes, People’s United Bank’s CEO, said in a statement.
Enfield, Glastonbury, Manchester and South Windsor will each lose two branches. Closings in Vernon include a former United branch in Rockville and a People’s United location in Vernon Circle. Other branches will close in Bristol, Greenwich, Hartford, West Hartford, Southington, Waterford, Westport and Windsor Locks. The closings in Enfield and Manchester include branches in Big Y supermarkets.
“In addition to our traditional branches, United customers will have access to our in-store Stop & Shop branches across Connecticut, which offer full-service, extended-hour banking, seven days a week,” Barnes said in the statement. “Combined with our personalized mobile and online banking services, we feel our presence state-wide is stronger than ever, and we look forward to building relationships with the loyal customers of United Bank.”

- Greenwich: 415 Greenwich Ave.
- Hartford: 151 Asylum St.
- Manchester: 768 N Main St.
- Manchester Big Y: 234 Tolland Turnpike
- Rockville: 25 Park St.
- South Windsor: 161 Nevers Road
- South Windsor: 1645 Ellington Road
- Southington: 158 N Main St.
- Vernon Circle: 35 Talcottville Road
- Waterford: 124B Boston Post Road
- West Hartford: 102 Lasalle Road
- Westport: 370 Post Road E.
