Two Connecticut companies had partnered on a “self-service first” ITM solution for banks and credit unions. Bethel-based BranchServ, which provides security and automation equipment and service for banks and credit unions nationwide, and Southington-based core provider COCC recently launched the automated solution in New England and the Midwest.
Using interactive teller machines (ITMs) from ATM manufacturer Nautilus Hyosung, the new product looks to reduce demands on both call centers and branch staff for banks and credit unions by enabling self-service first and assisted service only when needed.
Each ITM is configured to run on both the ATM Network operated by Elan/Fiserv and the core system provided by COCC for a financial institution. The system provides 24/7 self-service access and supports 95 percent of typical transactions. Hyosung’s Active Teller also feature connects consumers with bank representatives via two-way audio/video. With the new system, one video teller can typically support 9 or more terminals.
“Fully integrated terminals like this can be used to replace drive-thrus, supplement or replace the teller line altogether, and support remote offices where a ‘staffed’ branch is difficult to justify,” David Pepin, BranchServ’s vice president of sales, said in a statement. “Most importantly, they give consumers the flexibility to bank when and where they want.”
Fitchburg, Massachusetts-based Workers Credit Union recently implemented the technology.
“This [technology] puts us at the cutting edge of transactional banking with a continued focus on relationships through the interactive teller option,” Peter Rice, senior vice president of retail services, said in a statement. “COCC and BranchServ are cutting edge partners in a time where credit union memberships are putting a premium on cutting edge digital technology to improve their daily lives.”
Dave Frauenhofer, COCC’s first vice president of product management, said the self-service first solution would enable members to perform real-time transactions directly to the core, increasing the efficiency and accuracy of the transactions.
