KeyBank’s Connecticut operations has hired several bankers and made organizational changes that will see a new leader for the region’s retail bank.

The Cleveland-based KeyBank also just had a leadership change at the top, with CEO Beth Mooney retiring on May 1. KeyBank’s president, Christopher Gorman, took over as CEO and chairman.

KeyBank made several changes to leadership to the region’s retail banking business:

  • Courtney Jinjika was promoted to the newly created position of East Region Retail Executive, responsible for sales, service and operations of Key’s branch network throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, Hudson Valley/Metro New York, Pennsylvania and Central and Southwest Ohio. She began her 19-year career with KeyBank as a teller in Seattle, Washington. Jinjika became regional retail leader for Connecticut and Massachusetts in 2017.
  • Mark Commune has been promoted to Regional Retail Leader – New England, replacing Jinjika. In addition to leading the retail teams in Connecticut and Massachusetts, Commune’s role has been expanded to include leadership of Key’s Maine and Vermont branch teams. Commune joined KeyBank in 2018 as area retail leader for Central Connecticut. Prior banking experience includes leadership and employee development roles at Santander Bank and Citizens Bank.
  • Neil Cyr has been promoted to Area Retail Leader – Central Connecticut, providing leadership and coaching to staff in Key’s branches throughout the greater Hartford and Manchester areas. Cyr joined KeyBank in 2012 as a branch manager. He previously spent five years with Bank of America in a similar role.
  • Christopher Pearson has been promoted to Area Retail Leader – Connecticut Shoreline, providing leadership to Key’s 20 branches serving the shoreline towns. He previously served as experience leader for the Central Connecticut area. Pearson joined KeyBank as Guilford branch manager in 2016, bringing 20 years of banking experience from prior positions with TD Bank and Wachovia.

Three Connecticut bankers have joined KeyBank’s commercial and business banking teams:

  • Michael McGuire joined KeyBank Commercial Banking as Middle Market Relationship Manager, responsible for managing new and existing relationships with middle market commercial clients with annual revenues ranging from $25 million to $250 million in the Hartford and Springfield areas.  McGuire has more than 10 years of commercial banking and credit experience from previous roles at Bank of America and TD Bank.
  • Melissa Bierowka joined the KeyBank Business Banking team as Senior Business Banking Relationship Manager for business clients throughout greater New Haven. In this role, she will generate new and manage existing client relationships for businesses with annual revenues ranging from $3 million to $25 million. Bierowka has more than 15 years of business banking and finance experience, most recently with Capital One Bank.
  • Maryssa Tedder is KeyBank’s new Business Banking Relationship Manager for business clients throughout the greater New Haven and Waterbury areas. She has 13 years of business banking and branch experience from previous positions with Bank of America and Citizens Bank.

“The message is that KeyBank is focused on growing this market, and we continue to attract new talent and invest in our bankers to drive that growth,” Connecticut and Massachusetts Market President James Barger said in a statement. “At a time when so many families and businesses are impacted by the financial effects of fighting COVID-19, it is important to Key to have the resources to help customers, companies and communities re-build their financial wellness.”
