Winstanley Enterprises is planning a 500,000-square-foot companion tower to its 100 College St. lab-office building in New Haven.
New Haven officials are offering to let buildings in part of the city’s downtown soar to new heights, provided they implement green building technologies.
Changes to the BD-3 Central Business / Mixed Use district were submitted to the city’s Board of Alders on April 20.
Air rights parcels in the former Route 34 connector corridor could see their floor-area ratios upped from six to eight under the proposal, the New Haven Independent reports. In exchange, projects would have to include features like green roofs and LEED certification, or could provide public plazas measuring 3,000 square feet or more at street level.
The parcels include the site of a proposed life science tower under development by Winstanley Enterprises.
