Naugatuck-based Ion Bank has broken ground on its second branch in the Farmington Valley.

The new branch, Ion Bank’s 19th, is at 75 Main St. in Farmington’s Unionville neighborhood.

“Ion Bank is pleased to expand its presence in the Farmington market with our second location in Unionville. The people and businesses in the area have been very receptive to our arrival and we look forward to serving them with an increased presence for many years to come,” David J. Ion Bank has total assets of $1.38 billion. Along with offering mortgage, business and commercial loans, the bank is affiliated with Ion Investments and Ion Insurance.
