Webster Bank is donating $25,000 to the American Red Cross to support disaster recovery efforts in the wake of Tropical Storm Isaias.

This donation, the bank said, will assist American Red Cross chapters throughout its footprint as they assist families and communities with recovery efforts after this and subsequent hurricanes this year.

“Webster has a longstanding commitment to supporting the communities we serve, especially in times of disaster; it’s part of our core values,” Kathryn Luria, senior vice president of philanthropy and community affairs, said in a statement. “We know our American Red Cross partners will put this funding to immediate use in the communities where we live and work.”

The bank had previously presented the Red Cross with grants for communities affected by Hurricane Florence and a Massachusetts gas explosion in 2018 and Hurricane Dorian in 2019.

“We are incredibly thankful for the long partnership we have with Webster Bank,” Mario Bruno, CEO of American Red Cross Connecticut and Rhode Island Region, said in a statement. “The bank’s consistent support of our disaster recovery efforts, especially during the coronavirus outbreak allows the Red Cross to keep providing blood and disaster relief services to residents throughout the region.”

This donation is in addition to an earlier announcement on March 17 of this year, just as the country was seeing the first effects of the unprecedented impacts brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, when Webster Bank announced it would donate $60,000 for the Red Cross’ response to support technical infrastructure and urgent blood services.
