Undaunted by the troubled state of the hospitality sector, the owners of the DoubleTree hotel in Bristol plan to break ground on a new, 50,000-square-foot events center and 90-key hotel.

The project will be located at 42 Century Drive in Bristol, next to owner Gerald Niznick’s existing DoubleTree by Hilton property, managed by Prestige Hospitality Group. The groundbreaking is scheduled for Sept. 17.

The 50,000 square foot Bristol Event Center will feature two hospitality suites, a ballroom and outside seating accommodating up to 750 people conference style or 450 people for sit-down dinners or weddings. The 90-suite HOME2 Suites by Hilton hotel will feature all-suite accommodations with flexible guest room configurations.

Underground parking garage and pedestrian walkways will connect the two new hospitality venues with the existing DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton Bristol, and outdoor gathering areas will complement the indoor venues, the project’s owner said in a statement.
