A second Hartford-area hotel is headed to the auction block, a casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on travel.
The Sheraton Hartford South at 100 Capital Blvd. in Rocky Hill is scheduled to be sold between Dec. 7 and Dec. 9, according to a listing on real estate auction site Ten-X. Starting bid is $1.6 million for the 250-key, 4-story property. Paramount Lodging Advisors is involved in the sale.
The Hartford Business Journal first reported the auction.
The listing states that the leasehold interest in the institutionally-owned, third-party-managed hotel is being offered at a discount to replacement cost.
The hotel’s location underscores the impacts of the pandemic: situated within the 67-acre Corporate Ridge Office Park – home to EMC, Optimum Insight, Aspen RE America, and more – close to Bradley International Airport and tourist attractions like Dinosaur State Park.
The Rocky Hill hotel joins the Hilton Hartford as the second major hotel to head to auction as the sector continues to suffer despite many layoffs.
