A large former drive-in movie theater is being marketed to potential developers in Bolton.

The former Manchester-Drive-In has been closed since the mid-1980s, and has since become overgrown by trees and brush. The weathered marquee and giant screen remain, according to Kurt Potter of Glastonbury-based RE/MAX Right Choice, who holds the listing.

“This is a unique opportunity. One that pays testament to a rich history and the potential of an area that has been somewhat underutilized over the years,” Potter said in a statement. “Ideally positioned next to [Interstate] 384, only 20 minutes from UConn, and 15 minutes to Downtown Hartford, a developer with the right vision and access to the necessary resources could help this property reach its full potential.”

The owner, an affiliate of East Hartford-based Castanho Financial Group, has received interest from a range of users including apartment developers, townhome developers and senior living facility developers, he said.

The 21-acre property at 366 Boston Turnpike abuts a wetland and conservation land but is right next to Interstate 385 and a state park-and-ride lot. The location is a 20-minute drive from the University of Connecticut and a 20-minute drive from Downtown Hartford
