Guilford Savings Bank recently promoted David Finnerty and Shalonta Ford to new roles at the bank.

David Finnerty has been promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer, the bank said in a statement. Finnerty originally joined GSB in 2015 as senior vice president and senior operations officer.

In his role as COO, Finnerty will be responsible for the daily operations and functions of the bank. Reporting directly to the CEO, Finnerty will be responsible for banking and lending operations, facilities and security, cash management, project management and process improvement. He will monitor and resolve any issues within GSB’s business operations as well as assure company-wide implementation of bank policies and procedures while also facilitating ways to improve upon them.

Before joining GSB, Finnerty was director of client accounts – card operations & outsourcing governance with UBS from 2011-2015. He is on the board of directors at the Essex Historical Society where he is chairman of the governance committee.

GSB also promoted Shalonta Ford to vice president of retail banking and diversity, equity, & inclusion officer. Ford joined GSB in 2016 as branch administration officer and in 2018 was promoted first to vice president, branch administration and later to vice president, retail banking officer.

Ford will continue to serve as the retail department head, and she will chair an internal DEI committee. As DEI officer, Ford will provide strategic and day-to-day operational leadership for GSB’s policies, programs, and practices related to DEI. She will be a partner to the executive management leadership team for strategy, program launch, and implementing initiatives to ensure the optimal attraction, development, and retention of diverse talent, as well as infusing DEI principles and practices into the GSB organization and the communities it serves.

Before joining GSB, Ford had various leadership roles at TD Bank. She has served on New Reach’s Celebration Auction Committee since 2016.
