TD Bank plans to close six of its branches in Connecticut, the latest in a string of several lenders adjusting their physical footprints in the state.

Half the branches closing are in New Haven County:

• 503 Middlebury Road, Middlebury
• 636 Campbell Ave., West Haven
• 128 Amity Road, Woodbridge
• 2035 Broad St., Hartford
• 200 New Hartford Road, Winsted
• 272 Elm St., New Canaan

According to the FDIC, TD Bank has 63 offices in Connecticut.

“As one of the top 10 banks in the U.S., TD is continually evolving the way we serve our customers and communities to best meet changing customer expectations and behaviors, remain competitive and drive long-term growth. We strive to deliver an optimal mix of convenient TD Bank locations and digital banking products and services that are second to none. With those goals in mind, we regularly evaluate our existing TD Bank stores and new locations,” the bank said in an emailed statement.

In total, TD said it was closing 81, or 6 percent of its U.S. branches effective April 23.

The lender said its branches “remain an important pillar of our strategy and we are committed to reinvesting across our footprint” including store renovations, new ATMs and branches and investments in online and mobile app-based products.
