Thomaston Savings Bank employees recently raised more than $2,000 for the Brian O’Connell Homeless Project.

The bank held “denim days” to allow employees to wear jeans on Fridays for a month if they made a small donation to a preselected local non-profit providing vital services to the community, the bank said in a statement.

If employees donated a total of $1,000 or more throughout the month, the bank said it would contribute an additional $1,000 to that month’s cause. The donation totaled $2,045.

“The Brian O’Connell Homeless Project Inc. is forever grateful for the donation received from Thomaston Savings Bank Denim Days,” Donna Finneran, president and founder of the Brian O’Connell Homeless Project, said in the statement. “The support we receive from the local community is truly remarkable.”

The Brian O’Connell Homeless Project is an organization that collects donations to help provide those who are homeless with food and services. Donations are used for two main goals: providing “Brian Bags” and building mobile showers. Brian Bags contain basic necessities, including a first aid kit, food and other items to help with well-being. Mobile showers are built to encourage and improve hygiene and conditions for those who are facing troubled times, according to the statement.

Thomaston Savings Bank has about $1.4 billion in assets and 14 full-service branches throughout Western Connecticut.
