Thomaston Saving Bank employees donated more than $40,000 to the bank’s United Way campaign this year. Bank employees across all branches and departments made pledges to support the United Way and its mission to provide basic human needs, financial stability and education across the state, the bank said in a statement.
Employees increased their donations from last year by almost $10,000, the bank said.
“Thomaston Savings Bank is proud to be a community partner of our local United Way organizations,” Stephen L. Lewis, Thomaston Savings Bank’s president and CEO, said in the statement. “Their annual campaign encourages employees to give back to the organizations that make our community a great place to live. Thank you to all that donated.”
The bank offered different incentives to encourage employee giving. The incentives included department lunches, extra paid-time-off days, $100 Visa gift cards, Bose Bluetooth speakers, and “a day in the life of President and CEO, Stephen Lewis.”
The bank saw 90 percent of its employees participate, and donations increased from the previous campaign by 25 percent.
“It is amazing to witness the generosity of Thomaston Savings Bank employees as they make thoughtful and generous contributions to assist the United Way’s efforts,” Cheryl Lindstrom, Thomaston Savings Bank’s assistant vice president and community outreach officer. “Historically employees have increased the bank’s pledge total year after year. I am especially proud of our fundraising this year. It speaks to who we are as a group and lends itself to what we stand for as a company.”
The United Way’s annual giving campaign provides employees with the opportunity to donate and give back to their local United Way organizations. The bank said the campaign not only raises money for worthy causes, but also strengthens connections between employees and their community.
