The charitable foundation for Thomaston Savings Bank awarded 42 grants totaling more than $97,000 in the third phase of the foundation’s grant cycle.
The third phase included the New Haven County towns of Middlebury, Waterbury and Wolcott. The funds totaling $97,050.65 were awarded to local organizations to ensure that charitable needs are met throughout the towns served by the bank.
“We are pleased to be in a position to grant these important funds to organizations that make such a meaningful impact,” Stephen L. Lewis, Thomaston Savings Bank’s president and CEO, said in a statement. “Their efforts are vital in meeting the human and material needs of our community and we are proud to support their worthwhile causes.”
The Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation had three phases for its grant cycle in 2021 for Hartford, Litchfield and New Haven counties. The bank said it considers applications from local nonprofit and government agencies that support arts and culture, community development, education and youth services, health and human services, and public safety.
“The Foundation continues to work to make a significant impact on local agencies, which lend their support to those in need,” Cheryl Lindstrom, Thomaston Savings Bank assistant vice president and community outreach officer, said in the statement. “The Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation Board of Trustees gave thoughtful consideration to each application submitted throughout the grant. I am proud to work for a company that recognizes the importance of providing reliable support to improve the quality of life for our neighbors.”
The 42 grant recipients included The ARC of Waterbury Inc., Middlebury Elderly & Social Services, and Wolcott Volunteer Ambulance Association.
