The Savings Bank of Danbury has hired Chad Stewart as first vice president and commercial team leader for the Southern Connecticut region.

In his new role, Stewart will lead a team of commercial lenders building the deposit and loan portfolio for the Stamford and Norwalk area, the bank said in a statement. He will be based in the bank’s Norwalk branch, which opened last year.

Stewart has 34 years of banking experience. He was most recently a senior vice president and commercial team leader for the Westport branch of Connecticut Community Bank. He also worked at the former First Niagara Bank as a first vice president and team leader.

A member and past president of the Fairfield Rotary Club, Stewart is president of the Fairfield Rotary Foundation and a loan committee member of Capital for Change.

“Chad will lead our team of commercial lenders dedicated to Stamford and Norwalk,” Patrick Kelley, senior vice president of Savings Bank of Danbury, said in the statement. “He brings great experience and knowledge to the team, his expertise and commitment to customer service will bring great value to SBD.”
